Becas para pregrado en The University of British Columbia - Canadá

International Leader of Tomorrow Award

UBC attracts talented secondary and post-secondary students from around the world. We honour the achievements of our incoming international students through the International Leader of Tomorrow (ILOT) program.
The ILOT Award recognizes international students who demonstrate superior academic achievement, leadership skills, involvement in student affairs and community service, recognized achievement in fields of endeavour such as the performing arts, sports, debating or creative writing, or external academic competitions and examinations.
ILOT Award winners receive an award-level commensurate with their financial need as determined by the costs of their tuition, fees and living costs, minus the financial contribution the student and their family can make annually towards these costs. A standard needs-assessment is made, based on financial information provided by students and their families.
The ILOT Award can be renewed for up to three additional years of undergraduate study, or to degree completion, whichever is less, provided the student achieves satisfactory academic standing in their faculty, continues to demonstrate financial need, and maintains their Canadian Study Permit (visa).

Am I eligible?

Award candidates must be nominated by their current school or college/university. To be considered for an ILOT Award you must:
  • be entering a UBC undergraduate degree program from a recognized secondary school, college or other university
  • be admissible to the first choice program you are applying to, including meeting UBC’sEnglish Language Admission Standard
  • have an excellent academic record (at least an “A” average or equivalent standard)
  • be an international student, who is neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident of Canada, and who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian Study Permit (visa)
  • demonstrate a level of financial need that would otherwise prevent you from pursuing a UBC degree.

How can I be nominated?

If you wish to be considered for an award, speak to your school or college/university counsellor. If you are accepted for nomination, the counsellor must use the ILOT nomination package available for download on the Counsellors' website.

What is the deadline?

The deadline for nomination packages to be received at UBC is January 312013.
Nominees must also complete the online application for academic admission to UBC, and meet the UBC English Language Admission Requirement by January 312013. Although applicants to UBC can specify two program choices in their application for admission, an ILOT Award nomination will be considered only in relation to the nominee's first choice program. Early application is encouraged, to ensure an application decision can be made in time for Nomination consideration.

Convocatoria para jóvenes de 18 a 30 años para participar en el Foro Mundial Juvenil de la Conferencia Internacional en Población y Desarrollo - Indonesia

GLOBAL YOUTH FORUM

4th - 6th OF DECEMBER 2012, Bali, Indonesia

Call for Applications

Youth Rights at the Heart of Development

Forty-three percent of the world’s population is currently under 25. The number of young people is rising fastest in those parts of the world with the lowest economic growth. What does that mean for education, families, jobs, health and sustainability? How can civil society and international agencies work together to build a movement that will put youth interests at the heart of political debate and deliver sustainable results nationally and globally?
The ICPD Beyond 2014 Global Youth Forum aims to address these questions and represents the peak of efforts by UN agencies, young people and civil society to translate the participatory aspirations of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) into a sustainable youth advocacy network. Specifically, it seeks to tackle emerging issues and priorities for young people globally and ensure that these issues are central to the outcomes of the ICPD review process.
The Global Youth Forum is being delivered in full partnership with youth advocates and will bring together all stakeholders to make recommendations that will influence the global development agenda for the next 20 years. We intend to bring a diverse group of young people to the Global Youth Forum and especially encourage young people under the age of 24 to apply.

Criteria for applicants

Are you:
- a leader, or emerging leader, currently working at national level in an area that contributes to ICPD Programme of Action?
- working in a paid or voluntary capacity for a civil society organisation engaged in policy development at national and local levels?
- working in a paid or voluntary capacity for organisations that have a demonstrable national and/or international reach and mandate;
- able to demonstrate outstanding youth advocacy and networking capabilities with concrete examples of achievements in these areas in different contexts;
- below the age of 30

When considering candidates for the Global Youth Forum we take into account the following key knowledge, skills, awareness and values:
- a commitment to the values of the ICPD;
- leadership experience;
- innovation in the arena of policy development and application;
- desire to contribute to and improve the leadership potential of the civil society sector;
- willingness to learn;
- eagerness to lead debate and discussions during the Global Youth Forum;
- commitment to follow-up activities.
All participants must have a valid passport with a minimum of 1 year until expiry. While applicants under the age of 30 will be considered, we particularly encourage young people between the ages of 18 and 24 to apply.
